Courteney Cox is an American actress, producer and director, born on June 15, 1964, in Birmingham, AL, to Richard Cox and Courtney (nĂ©e Bass). She is of English, Scottish and Irish descent. Cox gained worldwide fame for her role as Monica Geller on the hit TV series Friends (1994–2004), a role that earned her critical acclaim and several award nominations. She has also appeared in films such as Scream (1996) and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994).Â
