Based on a story by the late movie actor, folk singer, musician, composer, unionist, and political activist, this children’s book is by his widow Aimee Ginsburg Bikel and illustrated by Noah Phillips. It poignantly recounts moments from Theodore Bikel’s childhood in Vienna, when he experienced anti-Semitism as Nazi influence grew—and dreamed of a Jewish superhero, Judah Maccabee who could rescue the Jews.
